Cons

Mattress Build

The mattress is designed to be comfortable, supportive and there is an emphasis on keeping it cool while you sleep as temperature is the biggest complaint among memory foam mattress users.

Loom and Leaf is 12 inches thick and it is constructed using only the best materials and each layer is there to serve a purpose. You can also choose from 2 firmness options: Relaxed Firm or Firm.

1. Quilted Organic Cotton
2. Medical Grade Gel Spinal Panel
3. 2″ 4lb Plant-based Cooling Memory Foam
4. 2.5″ 5lb Plant-based Premium Memory Foam, 2″ Transitional Loft Pad and 5.5″ High Density Support Base

The support layer is 5.5 inches of high density poly foam and on top of it is a 2 inch transitional loft pad. This transitional loft pad allows the comfort layer and support layer to work together seamlessly.

The comfort layer has 3 layers. The topmost layer is organic cotton quilted with 5/8′ foam and it includes the natural flame retardant. The second layer is a 2 inch, 4lb plant based cooling memory foam with a convoluted design for enhanced airflow.

In the lumbar area of this layer, a medical grade gel spinal panel is laminated to further improve temperature regulation and provide additional support.

The third layer is a 2 inch, 5lb plant based memory foam. A high density memory foam is the best for comfort as it is more effective in reacting to your body.

Plant-based memory foam is superior to standard memory foam from a health standpoint as it contains less chemicals and toxins. Also, it is more eco-friendly, it is great in terms of cooling and off-gassing is minimal.

Loom and Leaf mattress is made with CertiPUR-US certified foams.

Pricing

One of the most attractive features of the Loom and Leaf mattress is its price. It costs only $1299 for the queen size and with how the mattress is constructed along with the quality of materials used, this is a very good price.

The mattress model that is most comparable to Loom and Leaf is the Tempur-Pedic® Tempur-Cloud Luxe Breeze. They are very similar in specs but the discrepancy in price is very significant. The Tempur-Cloud Luxe Breeze queen model retails for around $3699 and the Loom and Leaf queen model is only $1299 . See the comparison here.

Below are the prices for each size.

SizeDimensionsPrice
Twin38″ x 75″$749
Twin XL38″ x 80″$849
Full54″ x 75″$1199
Queen60″ x 80″$1299
King76″ x 80″$1699
California King72″ x 84″$1699

Aside from the mattress itself, you also have the option to purchase a foundation for $259, either a low profile (4.5″) or a standard profile (8.75″). They also come in split models for $285. You can also buy a frame from them if you don’t have one for $119.

Another option is the Lineal Adjustable Base. If you want total control over your mattress and how it can support you, the adjustable base is the best solution.

Delivery is free including the removal of your current mattress if you won’t be using it anymore.

How does it perform?

  • Comfort and Support

Loom and Leaf is a comfortable mattress, provided that you chose the right firmness for you. If you are a side sleeper or you change sleeping positions often, the relaxed firm is recommended. If you sleep on your back or your stomach, you should probably choose the firm option.

The combination of a 4lb density and a 5lb density memory foam is very good in terms of contouring to your body and providing support. The 4lb density gives you that soft feeling as you first lay down and as the foam reacts to your body temperature and you “sink in”, you will feel the more supportive 5lb density foam.

This combination allows for equal body weight distribution and reduced pressure points. You will be able to sleep comfortably and wake up without body aches and pain.

  • Is it Hot?

Heat retention is a major issue when it comes to memory foam. Loom and Leaf, however, does not have this problem. Their patented gel-on-gel design (medical grade gel panel laminated onto a convoluted cooling gel memory foam) works wonders when it comes to temperature regulation. You will be able to sleep well and not wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat.

  • Motion Isolation

Just like most memory foam mattresses, motion transfer is practically non existent. If you’re sleeping with someone who moves a lot, you won’t be disturbed.

  • Off Gassing

Off gassing is not an issue with this mattress because aside from the use of plant-based memory foam, it is not vacuum sealed when delivered.

  • Is it Noisy?

Since this is an all foam mattress, it does not produce noise.

Durability and Warranty

The average lifespan of memory foam mattresses is around 6-7 years. Loom and Leaf estimates that their mattress will last up to 10-15 years with normal usage.

This is a huge claim and to be honest, we really have no idea how long the mattress will last because there is insufficient data. Loom and Leaf is a fairly new mattress model.

Having said that, Saatva has been in the mattress industry for a considerable amount of time now and from what we’ve seen with their Saatva mattress, we are very optimistic. The Loom and Leaf mattress, much like the Saatva mattress, is hand crafted and made in the USA using sustainable and renewable materials.

The foams are CertiPUR-US certified and they are sourced in the US.

Their claim is backed by a 15 year warranty. If your mattress is defective within the first 2 years of the warranty period, it will be replaced without any charge. If your mattress is defective after 2 years, it will be fully repaired and the only charge is transportation cost.

Another option that Saatva has put in place is the “Fairness Replacement Option“. Here are the details.

  • If mattress is defective within 2 years, it is replaced without any cost.
  • If it is defective within 3-5 years, it can be replaced for 25% of the original price that you paid.
  • Within 6-10 years, it can be replaced for 50% of the original price you paid.
  • Within 11-15 years, it can be replaced for 75% of the original price you paid.

Basically, within the first 2 years of the warranty period, your mattress will be replaced free of charge. After 2 years, you can choose if you want it fully repaired without any cost or you can get a brand new mattress at a discount. You can read the warranty policy here.

It is short and easy to read and understand, unlike other warranty policies that seem to only confuse buyers.

120 Days, No Penalty, Home Trial

One of the drawbacks of being an online exclusive retailer is the lack of a showroom to display their mattresses for would-be buyers to see. This, however, is remedied by Saatva by giving customers an ample amount of time to test the mattress at their own home. It is 120 days from the day you receive the mattress, not the day you order.

You can test the mattress at your own home without any pressure. You have more than enough time to let the mattress adjust to your body or your body to adjust to the mattress. This way, you will really know if the mattress is right for you.

If you are not satisfied, you can return the mattress without any additional cost. Of course, you will get a full refund.

Delivery

Delivery is free and this includes the removal of your current mattress along with the installation of the Loom and Leaf mattress. As for how long the delivery will take, it will also depend on your location but it is usually around 7-15 days.

If you decide to purchase the Loom and Leaf mattress, the customer service team will contact you within 72 hours to discuss your order details and the delivery process.

One day prior to the delivery day, they will also contact you to discuss scheduling and other specifics. Read about the delivery day process here.

Customer Support

Customer support is one of, if not, the best part of buying a mattress from Saatva. Upon visiting their official website, you can immediately have a chat with their mattress concierge and ask about anything that you want to know.

They are very helpful and they offer information not only about their mattress but about mattresses in general. This can be very helpful if you are new to buying mattresses and you have no idea where to start.

When you order from them, they make sure that there is communication between you and them so as to avoid any potential issues or problems.

After sales is also very good. If you are not satisfied with the mattress or if there are any issues with it, you can just call them or you can go to their website and use their live chat service. You can call them at 8am up to midnight EST, 7 days a week. If there are any issues with the mattress, they will usually cater to your request, as long as it is reasonable.

Summary

We highly recommend the Loom and Leaf mattress and we think that it is the best memory foam mattress in the market. Its design is well thought out to provide proper support and comfort. It has the best cooling feature out of all the memory foam mattresses that we have tried. The materials used are of high quality and we really like that it is handcrafted and made in the USA with US sourced foams. It is also very reasonably priced.

We hope that this Loom and Leaf mattress review has been helpful and if you want to buy the best memory foam mattress right now, you can get it at the Loom and Leaf website.
